The currency of the independent Estonia, the mark which divided into 100 penni, was introduced at the end of the year 1918. It was modelled upon the german mark which soon became worthless causing the estonian mark to collapse too.
First estonian coin serie, consisting of 1, 3 and 5 marks, was minted in 1922 in Berlin and made of Copper-Nickel. Coins were designed by artist Elsa Rosendorff.
