That used to happen to my father, he had allergic reactions to metal on his skin. I am that way to a point, I cannot wear any metal on my skin except gold and none in my ears, not even gold or platinum or they swell up real bad.

My girlfriend has that same problem with nickel and sterling silver, which apparantly has nickel in it.
