No image, sorry, but I swear I see a faint outline of a D (outside outline and inside outline). NO rims exists any more.

When I compared it to an image of a 1916D, the spot where I see a D and the spot where the D mark is supposed to be are 99% the same (nothing's 100% these days tongue.gif)

I don't know if anyone would believe me if I tried to show them the mark. And I don't want ot spend money if it turns out to be a plain '16.

Anyone have an image of a low-grade 1916D Merc 10cent?

Now without a photo or a link to the auction, the suspense will kill us.

Go slap your self or better yet kick yourself for doing this to this group bleh.gif

The mintmark are thos is pretty well protected and unless it is a po1 or worse (in which case you wouldn't be able to read the date it is unlikely that the mintmark would be worn to the point that you would only see a part of it. Here are a couple of pictures of genuine AG3 examples (graded by PCGS). Compare to yours and if yours is in G/VG condition the mintmark should be better defined than these are.

For your sake I hope yours is the real deal, but from the info given, I doubt it.

From the way merc collectors cut slack for a 16-D, yours sounds like what they call a Fine. ;-)
