I don't get it. To help fund the Olympics? Geez, I'm sure that there are other rooms to find such savings.

But yes, I wouldn't be against a 5 dollar coin though. Japan made that switch of 500yen (around 4.55US?) note to coin around 1982 (if I am not wrong?) Although that coin has been hit by two major counterfeit scams real hard this decade bleh.gif

Well, Canada never put much money into its athletes. Most of them work f/t at near minimum wage to get around.

Hate to break the bad news to you, but the USAOC does no better. Many countries fund their athletes as a prestige thing etc. Is it best? Does it make them no longer amatuers but professionals? Who knows?
