It seems that it's getting more and more dangerous just to attend these shows.

He broke a basic rule which is not to leave your stuff in the car (or your hotel room). If its too much to carry around, then dont bring it!
Also, when attending shows, you should always be aware of your surroundings. Its generally pretty easy to spot people scoping you out if you know what to look for.
