Appearently, there are not that many error coins but when I looked at some Russian auction sites, there seems to be quite a suprising fair bit.

And the real coin would be this

The error lines in the date "4" instead of "5" which is quite a herrific error.

This one is an Imperial Russian coin, 1841, but if you know a genuine one looks like, there is at least two herrific errors there.

The word "MOHETA" has become "MO|/|ETA" and the mintmark SPB is messed up too. Not too often seen really... :|

Anyways, that's all that I have seen for today... will post some more when I get to see more. smile.gif

The first coin is easily explained, they just minted some with wrong obverse, the second one looks altered.

Could the first one be as simple as the seller uploading the wrong image to the auction site?? He has several hundred listings there.
