This is what I hate about the news media. When they don't have a real story to dramatize they have to make something up and, having worked for a newspaper in the late 80,s and early 90's as a freelance writer and photographer, I learned that all you have to do is pick any subject and write negative about it to get great readership. The madder you make the readers the more response you get and response SELLS papers. This guy is an apparent non-collecting fool with not much going on in his life. Thats the SAD part!

Actually, I agree with him. The Fraser buffs were collectible. The new ones aren't and probably never will be. When I got my first one in change, it seemed the same to me as it did to the writer.

Comparing the new buffalo nickel to the old one is just not right.
Different artist, different minting process and much higher minting # make for a completely different nickel.

Most any coin made now for circulation is going to look like a piece of guano compared to coinage of old.
Different process, different time, different results.

And besides, the new nickel looks awesome!
