My belief is that this is where the underlying image of the 1762 10 kopek is at

Understandably, this is difficult to look at. I recommend to first look out for the letter "O" in the word "kopek" and the letter "P" will appear. From there, things should work out if you are a bit creative - the letter "b" of kopek"b" confirmed the exact location and everything is at where it is supposed to be at.

Look for the year 1762 and the number "2" should be VERY obvious. Everything falls from there.

1767 CM 5 kopek isn't revealing anything at the moment but BKB sample looks more promising - just wished it was taken flat.

I dont see it. Im trying to find the "2". I just see the planchet streaks diagonaly across the reverse side.

Here is a clip for the 1765 CM 5 kopek - I insist you to use the ZOOM IN function which you can do on right click. Works in internet explorer, not too sure about firefox. You can zoom in and out as you wish. The video will repeat on it's own.

My recommendation is that you first look at the gradual outline of where the underlying image is. And then use the zoom in to see how close the outline is, in particular the number "2", the words "desyat kopek" and the drum. It should be VERY convincing.

I am sorry, but I still don't see it . To me the CM coin doesn't show any traces of an undercoin anywhere. There are 7 catalogued die variants of the 10kop1762. How did you know which one to superpose and where and at which angle? I have the 5kop1763CM, 1764CM, 1765CM, 1766CM, none of them revealing an undercoin to me. Would you like to screen them too? I'll try to spend more time with it tonight but again so far when the 10K image fades out (very nice technology by the way) I'm left with nothing.

Sigi, please post them if you can and I am keen to break this mystery. I would want the photos as FLAT as possible so that I can use it for overlapping purposes. However, please use sufficient lighting as shadowing and additional can make it difficult to analyze. I don't have the additional resources to facilitate varieties as I don't own any 10 kopeks nor actually know the varieties To be honest, I used the image that Steve gave me as I cannot find an image suitable for illustration.

Usually when I confirm at least three different symbols that are visible and the rest generally fall in where the symbols are supposed to be at, I would declare that it is an overstrike. How I know where the undercoin is at is by experience as well as luck at times when you really have no clue where it could be at. This doesn't seem too difficult compared to some of the geophysics, resource modeling that I had to stare at for hours...
