Canadian Quarter today from 7-11. First time in a while I got any North of the Border coinage.
Dockwalliper
Todays CoinStar finds 1984 Canadian Quarter and 1996 GB 5 Pence.
Fjord
1999 D U.S. Half Dollar. Somewhere in the "EF" category.

Yes folks, they still circulate a bit. This was change from buying a pack of gum at a gas station at 5:15 am so I wouldn't have the dreaded Coffee Breath after the long drive to Sacramento.

On second look, maybe it's AU with bagmarks all to hell and back. Lots of scratches and nicks, but very little actual wear, detectable wear on the eagle's head and where the shield meets the neck, full detail on JFK's hair and cheekbone. No rim dings either.

Hello, pocket piece.

I got a 1954 dime today at lunch. banana.gif

Yep, every once in a while we get a nice flow coming in. About a year ago I found nearly $8.00 face in silver quarters mixed in about 18 rolls of quarters and 6 registers. Someone must've given a roll or two to the bank. Best thing I found still is that civil war token a few months ago though, here are some pics from my old post! I still am waiting to find a liberty head (V) nickel, or a indian head.

Early date Jeff's wear gracefully, in my opinion.

I guess I am late on this one, but I got my first SD SQ in change today. Not a bad looking design at all.

Here is a good discussion for everyone:

You see a coin or note that someone donated towards a charity or for a fundraiser. You don't have any change or cash on you to replace it with. You really really wanna have it. What do your morals tell you to do?

Leave it be.

You know how you see the Leave a Penny - Take a Penny dishes in many stores now, I have on a couple of occasions spied wheat cents in them. I put a cent or nickel in and adopt the little orphan. I just hate seeing a wheat cent in for instance the Tim Hortons donation box and not being able to adopt it.
TreasureGirl
That depends...

1) If I have anything a dollar or less on me (but equal to or greater than the face value of the coin)
2) Can I reach the little bugger?
3) Newer wheaties I wouldn't give much thought about if it is in anything more than a "take-a-penny-leave-a-penny" dish, but if I see anything silver, I might spend half an hour contemplating.

I wonder if you can request the keys from the manager if you offer a big enough donation for sorting through a box's contents...
BiggAndyy
Latest coinstar finds... all in one reject bin.

Since I live in Switzerland, I can't boast of finding Buffalo nickels or IHC in my change ... but any minor denominations minted before 1968 in silver are pretty neat. I picked this one up in my change about four days ago:

Do you ever find any of the older rappen coins in circulation, I thought it was possible to find 19th century stuff in change?

I've heard that it still happens from time to time ... but I never found anything that old yet. The oldest I have found up to now was 10 rappen 1908, followed by 20 rappen 1919 and 1920. The funny thing was that two of those coins were given in change at the same store (at different times, though)! smile.gif

All of these coins were in similar condition to the 1929 piece shown (F to good VF). The nicest silver I ever found in my change was 50 rappen of 1967 in AU/UNC, pictures of which I have posted here somewhere before ... I also believe you have seen that one, since I remember that you replied to that message. smile.gif

Maybe someone seeded the cash register with these coins to get more customers?? This is highly doubtful, though, since being located in an underground thoroughfare at one of the larger train stations here, they probably have all the customers they need! But obviously, at least I, for one, am a repeat customer! laugh.gif

Cheers! drinks.gif

One thing about Switzerland is that you will never get old banknotes, since they were demonetised.

Went to your site - need help like that. By the way, how do you know its a "2001" penny? Why not 2000 or 2002-2006? Just a dumb question.
BiggAndyy
It is only a partially filled die, so when you rotate the coin the "1" becomes apparent at different angles.
Dockwalliper
I'll give it a try but for anyone thats interested heres a borrowed pic that looks very much like the coin I got in change last week.
