Several times I have noticed members saying they have a 'connection' at a place of business or bank.
Did you (or any of our members) make your connection through an existing friend or did you work up the nerve to make a connection with a total stranger?
I don't know anybody who handles lots of coins who doesn't already save them theirselves.
Does anyone have ideas on making new connections and which ones seem to be the best?

I had a connection at a local bank in Jersey City about 10 years ago, and I just kept going in and asking her for $200 in halves and after about the 3rd time she just told me she'd save all the halves for me and I could just come once a month and pick them up. Lots of Franklins, 90% and 40% Kennedys on that one, the only thing she wouldn't give up was one walker that she got in that she gave to her son. Can't argue with that!

Checked a favourite coin-star machine and found a 1943 steel cent. A little rust, but okay. I'll try and pass it off as a dime, as that is about what it is worth :-)

1944 - P Silver War Nickel, well worn, about a VG or so, but still any silver in change is a nice thing.

The pickings for me have been very slim lately with only a single 1945 wheatie to my credit. But, it pays to make sure everyone at work knows I collect coins

One of my techs got this in change and saved it for me! What a great snag.

Hey everyone, I just got back from my trip back to the east coast. I was back visiting family. Anyways, I stayed a my Grandpa's house for a while and he gave me a bunch of wheaties, steel cents, some silver certificates, and a big dollar bill. I also found some P buffalo nickels in good shape, so I didn't make out too bad.

I received a drummer boy the other day and I too saved it

Everyone knows they have a hefty mintage - consulting my newly acquired 2006 Redbook, about 809 and 860 mil for P and D, respectively (I notice that the Redbook has a typo listing the D as an S). When you consider that they were made for '75 and '76 the figures are near those for '77 and '78. But I saved the one from the other day...mostly because I don't see them very often
I've never gotten one in change.

That's extermely unusual- it sounds like someone's knowingly stuffing foreign coins into those rolls.
