Was a the British Halfcrown coin minted in 1952. I know the old king died and Lizzie, bless her cotton socks, took over, but cant seem to find one.

There was a 1952 Halfcrown, the Proof can fetch £25,000 whereas the 'standard' halfcrown is unique whereas the queen did not have a 1952 halfcrown.

There are thought to be a couple still in existence, they are worth around 30-40,000 GBP!
What happened was there was an unintentional mintage of the H/C's in this year and a few of them got out before they brought the production to a close. I think the reason for the intended non-production at this time was the ongoing Korean War.
