Hello!

I am currently researching a paper on the mintage and history of precious metal rounds, including the world-renowned Engelhard American Prospector series.

I am in need of information regarding the history (development, design), and mintage-numbers of the Prospector series.

Are you able to provide any details on the Prospector series? Do you know of any prior publications (books or articles) which offer details?

My paper is purely for non-profit, academic research only, to be freely shared with the numismatic community upon completion.

I very much appreciate any information you can help me with. Thank you very much!

Other than the facts that I have a couple of rolls of prospectors and have noted that they tend to bring a premium over generic rounds, I don't have much information. I did shoot this picture which I think shows a prospector to advantage.

I don't know how much research has been done on this topic, I had a bunch I sold on eBay last year, and just by looking at eBay listings you can learn a lot like the years minted, the denominations (I think they did from 1/10th ounce to 1-ounce), and in some cases there were design changes, like I know there were two different reverses used one year, I think it was 1984. Good luck!
