Hello!

I've tried to complete my silver type set (1811-1917) of russian coins (three coin types missing at the moment). Here are some
experiences of rarity of types:

Highest rarity:
Poltina "Wings down", 5 kopeks 1859-60

Hard to find:Poltina (1811-1826), 10, 20, 25 kopeks "Wings down"
20, 25 kopeks (1832-1846)

Not so hard to find: The rest

With rarity I mean rarity of high grade coins.

Opinions?

3)Poltina (1811-1826)
All rare in MS ; PF-V.Rare+

Just my experience about those Types ,some dates more often on the market like 25 kopecks of 1839 in Proof- just Rare compare to other coins for the type of 1832-1846 .

The builder of that site has no idea which side of the coin should be considered as obverse.

A real pleasure to look at these coins!

Nordic Gold, it just depends on what people think obverse / reverse are. If they wish to upload it the other way around, that's how it is. Janneen, nice coins! bthumbsup.gif

Very nice coins, congrats!

I particularly like the 1827 coins. The "wings down" design is very attractive and my favorite type of the 19th century. ok.gif

Dear Gxseries,

there are criteria for judging which side of the coin is to be considered the obverse. The best source to find out are certainly the various coinage act documents.

However, I am not speaking of merely lack of knowledge, but of inconsequence; these coins are represented as a mess. 10 kopeek 1819 and 20 kopeek 1823 represent the same type of design and still their sides are confused.

Brother, this is not a catalog that you bought. Private collection is like someone's flat. Would you come to my house and tell me that the furniture is mismatched and should be moved around? diablo.gif

Gentlemen,

most of you that have commented have said some kind of opinion about this site. Some have said more detailed things than others.

Now I am being told it is a private area and cannot be commented.

Why is it possible to say that a coin looks nice but it is not possible to say that the coin has been incorrectly represented?

Perhaps the reactions you received had more to do with HOW you said it, than with the actual facts.
