Les Voltigers de Quebec
1st French Canadian Regiment
Drums, Shoulder belt & Stave (Staff)
Elizabeth II
Created in 1862 (March 2) as the 9th Battalion Volenteer Militia Rifles, it recieved its french title just over a year later May 1863, the Regiment took as its motto the family motto of its Colonel (C R L d'Irumberry de Salaberry) 'Force a Superbe, Mercy a Foible'
for more than 100 years the regiment displayed courage and honour during a number of conflicts, North West Rebelion, WWi & WWII along with Korea, it also took part in the peacekeeping opperations in former Yugoslavia. Today the Regiment is part ofthe 35th Canadian Brigade Group.
One other very interesting piece of information which directly relates to the Drums etc on the coin The Regimental bnd was the first to ever publicly play 'O Canada' this took place in Quebec City on June 24th 1880
Hope you all like them as much as I do
