My BIL says these are old coins, I think they are just junk/fakes. Can someone tell me what they are and if they have any value? Thanks

The second coin is a poor fake of a 1745 Spanish colonial 8 reales.

Hello,
The coin that perports to be "American" and dated 1776 is odd to say the least. Most actual American coins did not begin to be minted until the British withdrew in 1783. Up until then a lot of Americans were really not sure if they would stay British or become another independant state. In fact they were not that sure that all the different states might just become 13 different countries. As for the tree perhaps it is trying to be a pine tree but by the look of it all the smoke that is being blown up it has turned the branches upward. However if it is real perhaps it was minted after 1776 and perhaps that is the apple tree Old GW chopped down. It might be a token or something. You can always hope it turns out to be the only one of its kind and then you can retire.
Good luck

All three are modern concoctions.
hiho
"Concoctions" is a nice way of describing them...
