I frequent a couple of other coin forums where we are absolutely nuts over the Australian Lunar Series. It is based on the Chinese Lunar cycle and minted by Australia's Perth Mint, both in gold and silver. Some of the coins have developed quite a premium. The 2000 gold Dragon, for example, is now selling for an average of $1,700. There are several other gold Lunars coins carrying significant premiums but any gold Lunar will cost at least $100 over spot. The silver coins are selling for the high-$20 range. The silver versions of the coins are all works or art. I've got the set in both gold and silver. Below is my effort at a photo of a 2004 silver Monkey. I'll also include a shot of a silver 10 oz Snake, notice the egg hatching.
