Along the same lines I put some of the half dollars back in to circulation. No one has said anything yet. But when taking them some have been pretty slow flipping them over side to side looking at them.

Along with my dollar coins I do have some halves that need to start filtering back into circulation. That is so I can make room for future halve dollar acquisitions! smile.gif

So far I have spent two $1 coins here (So. Cal.) - they were accepted like any other coins. Unfortunately, when I get change back, it is always those awful and often even filthy rag dollars ...

The local wal-mart and the poor clerk didn't have a clue on what they were, after the customer service manager came and told him that they were accepted he took them

In my previous experience the clerk just, "oh," once she realized what it was.

I might spend some more today, but it will be in the express checkout lane at my supermarket if I do.

I sent my Mum away shopping today with 12 pound notes and two £5 coins laugh.gif

I paid with 2 of these today. As I was digging for change in my pocket the cashier picked one up and studied it, but didn't say anything. Again, must have known what they were, but probably first time seeing one. That's what I like is just sharing something new with people! smile.gif

$6 bucks = about 2 litres over here.
I paid £1.14 a litre the other day which = £ 5.25 approx a gallon or $10.50 so stop complaining and sort out your green footprint.

That's still nothing. In Bulgaria it is 5 BGN a liter. 5 BGN = $3.5. that is about $15 a gallon. evilbanana.gif

First time in awhile I spent one. With gas being so much I was paying with bigger bills. Anyway, spent one at a movie theater yesterday. The guy spent a good 20-30 seconds staring at it. Then he apologized saying he "hadn't seen one of these in awhile."

I'm sure there is a good chance this teller will trade out the dollar coin from his register, which makes me a little happy knowing I gave something to someone that they enjoyed getting.

I asked for three new $1 coins when I cashed a check at the bank the other day. Why? Because my 6-year-old daughter is losing teeth these days and the Tooth Fairy loves to leave dollar coins. biggrin.gif

I like spending the Ike Dollars. Now thats a coin that turns heads. I go to a store that gets a couple every few weeks and thay always save them for me. I use them as tips or, if I'm so lucky, at the Casinos. Using an Ike at the BlackJack tables will really get some stares. Some dealers will fight over them. Others want to refuse them thinking its a token from another casino. Some pay no mind. The players ask to see them. Something fun always happens when you throw one on the table.

As big and bulky as a Morgan Silver Dollar, you won't mistake them for anything else.

I've only been to casinos in Windsor (and been old enough to play bleh.gif ) but can you sit down and just play with your own money?? (or was it when you were getting chips)

Before I could do that I would have to see my first one. I have never even received a Susie B in change let alone a presidential dollar.

Neither have. That's why I ask for them at my bank to collect them , trade them with a few coworkers and family members, and then spend the rest.
