I need to do a rant before I go to sleep, please leave me your sympathies, lol. Anyways, I'm all happy because when I get off of work I'm going to the local dealer to get an ASE, I don't care which year because I pretty much need them all. So I have 20 dollars in hand. Mind you, 20 dollars is a pretty high premium for ASEs. So I walk in put the 20 on the table and ask the guy, show me all the ASEs you have for 20 dollars. he looks at me and says "Sorry, the price went up, the cheapest is 22.50. I asked if he was willing to budge, he said no. There is no way I'm paying 6.00 over spot. Anyway. I walked away sad. I liked that store, but there is plenty of places that will sell for 20. Anywho, have a great night. And yes, I know it was only 2.50 difference, but in terms of spot price, that's crazy. some kind of businessman he is. Unless there are plenty of people willing to pay that price, but they're only hanging themselves paying those prices.

My advice to you in the future is to call around to different places to ask what they're charging for the eagles before you go charging out to buy. Calling around for buy/sell prices has saved me some cents.
As for ASEs, I usually buy them at coin shows and the different dealers always sell them at the same price.

I totally agree with you. I'm surprised he was that stingy. You gotta show him some leg next time.

I attended a coin show last Sunday Jan 13th. The 2008 ASE were selling for $18.50 each.

I'm jealous, and to address the calling around. He just happens to be on my way home from work. Darned convenience. That's fine though. Like many of you have said I can find them cheaper which I intend to.

That's why I started out with bullion. I know how much bullion should cost me. I'm too new to this hobby to trust anyone giving me numismatic prices.
