Check out this seller's coins.
I was dumb enough to purchase a Russian coin that was a fake.
The coin picked up by a magnet!
I also was stupid and left a positive feed back before throughly checking the coin out.
I filed a claim with Paypal and let Ebay know that the coin is a fake.
Check out the rest of the coins he is selling and tell me if they are real.

Seller's Ebay store

Check out the Russian coin I bought. I posted this one a few days ago here.

The Rouble that I purchased

That is what I read from the description of the coin:

"IN ANY CASE, IF FOR ANY REASON YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND OF YOUR ORDER".

If you are not happy with your purchase, why are you still did not get your refund?

His reply sent to me in an email. Cut and pasted here.

"Look, my items that i sell, they are controlled by a dealer. Also, I'm a honest man.If you see my feedbacks, all people are happy with their purchases. I would like to take an item back, but from your story, i'm scared that the coin that i had sold you its a different coin from this that you want to send me "back"..."

So he said no he will not take the coin in the claim that I opened.

As he promises to refund money, I think that a formal complaint to eBay saying that
he refuses to refund the money ought to get their attention. One would think that he
would be suspended for refusing to honor his conditions of sale.

Normally I would have edited this thread immediately but because of the situation, I believe it should stay although I am not too sure if the seller actually had the intention to sell counterfeit coins and that you bluntly blast him over it. I agree that spending quite a fair bit of money on a counterfeit isn't a good experience.

It is unfortunately clear that even from the seller's pictures alone that it is a counterfeit as there is no such thing as ultra thick rims.

Halfdollars, perhaps what I suggest is that you kindly send the seller a link of this forum and welcome him to this forum for a proper discussion. Indeed selling a counterfeit coin will harm his reputation but if he doesn't acknowledge that he did, that's worse off.

Thank you very much for letting me express my unhappiness.
I gave the links where we discussed this coin in another post to the seller before I filed the claim.
He insists that the coin I posted is not the same coin. If you look at the sellers picture and mine
they are in fact the same. I then filed a claim and forwarded the posts to Ebay and Paypal so they may see it for themselves.
Unfortunately my only fault is that I was silly to give him a positive feedback before I posted the coin in question.
But, I do feel that I should not be punished for my ignorance in not being able to immediately detect a fake coin.

Normally, one would expect that. But this is ebay, so nothing can be taken for granted.

The seller {collcoins} left you a negative on the transaction, saying "SHE RECEIVED AN ORIGINAL COIN&SUBSTITUTED WITH A FAKE. SHE WANTS COIN & MONEY.. "

I see your total feedback is above the 300 mark (256 unique positives) and no-one else has previously made such an accusation against you (which, to my mind, says something about the seller's credibility).

I think this seller is someone to avoid. Push hard with Paypal and (if you paid by credit card) also notify your credit card company.

You should not "eat" this fake.

Don't feel too bad. I'm 99.999% sure that everyone here has been duped on eBay in one way or another. My favorite was when some guy from Romania replied to my inquiry about an unreceived coin with "I'm honest people". Needless to say I never got the coin, or heard anything else from him. And if you're strapped for cash you can always sell the coin back to eBay, people out there will buy anything! ;-)

I agree completely. A PayPal payment dispute should work in this case.
Don't let this seller to continue deceiving people.

"YOU WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND OF YOUR ORDER.
( IN THAT CASE PLEASE DONT CLEAN OR DAMAGE THE ITEM!! ) "

This statement is a perfect excuse to avoid giving refunds.
