i found a coin a while back and have been searching online for a while for it and saw it once but i wasn't sure if that was the one or not. since then i have have no luck finding it.

on the side with the date there is an elephant walking right with a temple of some sorts on it's back to the left of it there are the letters INDK. there are also a symbol to the right of the elephant but i can't identify them at this time. it has the date 1757 under the elephant.

on the opposite side there is an elephant walking towards the left with the letters uc19 under it, it also hace letters above the head but i can't identify then either.

it made of copper i think it's rare but i'm not sure is there anybody out there in this crazy mixed up world who either has or has seen my coin i would like to sell it

Sounds a bit like this coin: http://www.coinsandstamps.com/foreigncoins...hire/bct757.htm but has Britannia on the reverse. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/29-George-III-1771-H...1QQcmdZViewItem

Do you have any decent photos?

Clive.

nope it has elephants on both sides on side is just an elephant and the other side on the elephants back is almost those things you see in movies where they have those tents on the back but i think it has something to do with the queen of sheeba

Actually, in the first picture, what is perceived as an elephant is the bottom half of Britannia, with the shield being the head and trunk.

The legend suggests the piece is a Connecticut halfpenny, with the legend INDE: / ET LIB:

So I'm going to say that it's a very well worn and corroded 1787 Connecticut halfpenny.

In this condition, its retail value is probably $20 at best. Redbook says $50 for common variety in G.

Hello,
That coin was issued in London at the Elephant and Castle and was a Bank Tokin. There is a pub there now so you could take your coin and some friends to London and have a pint at the same time.
Cheers

If you can take an unblurred photo of the obverse (front) of the coin we can help you identify it. But that coin certainly does have Britannia on the reverse (back) of the coin. I am inclined to agree with Ccg, but I would have to see the inscription more clearly to be sure.

Here is what we think it may be. Although mine has a broken planchet, you can still make out what it is very easily. If your coin says Auctori Connec. on the obverse, then you have yourself a connecticut half cent.

Very good.

When I first looked at this piece, it didn't look like anything to me. I stared at it and (with the suggestion of an elephant) eventually saw what looked something like a crudely rendered elephant.

When you said Britannia, it became obvious to me.
