Hey all, new to the forums here and have a couple quick questions about IP medals.
Acquired what looks to be a Jefferson peace medal a few weeks ago,... before I send it off to some place like NGC to have it looked at, I thought i'd search for some answers to try and prevent me wasting money. After reading up on the subject alot since acquiring in, I have two things that have sorta worried me about it. Its size... if I'm measuring it correctly, it seems to only be about 33mm in diameter, which is smaller than any of the examples of originals and restrikes that I've read about. Is that a "set in stone" requirement as far as deeming it fake or real, or are there possibly sizes out there that they are not sure of. The second concern I have is that if you look at the edge or rim of the coin you can see a "seam". The seam is pretty noticable, but its not filed down like someone was trying to conceal it or something. I read a few articles on how those original Jefferson medals were constructed, but I have never seen a close up picture of the rim or edge of one to compair it to. These two concerns are the only reasons I have not yet sent it out to be looked at. I thought i'd get some info and opinions before wasting my money and getting my hopes up!!! Any info would be appreciated and I thank you all ahead of time.
Dominic
