Full Version: Cull Call Out I "Ended"

CoinPeople.com > CoinPeople.com Spotlight > Contests and Giveaways > Expired or Ended Contests/Giveaways
Mark Stilson
Picked up two cull coins (And I'm not kidding the local coin store has an cull box with a bunch of U.S. coins in a box. So these are from it.) These are some where below good. Maybe even P01 for those looking for the low grade sets. (According to how it turns out I may try this again.)

Anyways heres the rules.

Only one guess per person per day. (Any more then per day will be ignored. So fair warning.) You may take a guess on both coins in the same day. I would prefer it be on the same post.

Time/date is whats listed at Coin People. Not your local time.

First person who correctly guesses type and year gets that coin. (If two people post at the same time the first showing in order gets it.) Mint is not needed.

Just in case I did not think of something which should have been in the rules to call the winner my judgment stands.

hints. One from above They both are U.S. coins. Next they both are over 50 years old. (You did not think I'd make it that easy on you. hysterical.gif )

Low grade, or possible problem coin which may not make it to grading standards. (Scratched, cleaned, damaged, porosity etc. ) In other words these are not showcase coins.
Mark Stilson
Hey Art need a date with the guesses.

BTW since my color is off on the pictures. I will give one more set of hints. The first coin is silver the second is copper.

Edit: I am really having a time with dupe posts.
Mark Stilson
BTW I did look thru them so these aren't drilled, scratched, bad dings on the edges, or bent. I can't say much more though. The copper is a little porous though. But on the whole decent culls. grin.gif

This is all fun and games for all who answered... but I didn't get any pictures to see. confused1.gif
Not getting a picture happens now and then on this forum so will have to get together with the 'boss' and see why.

I know how that goes. I have the same problem on some pictures. And it is aggrevating. Just to give it a try here is the same images hosted but at Imageshack.

A hint the orientation is right. I.E. the coins are not up side down or sideways.

According to how this runs I may post some more clues later in the contest.

bleh.gif I may try to take a couple more pictures of the same shot. I've got to admit the picture on the copper is pretty poor. I'm going to wait a bit to see how it goes.

BTW if you aren't sure whether are due a post just look at your last guess and if it says yesterday or has a date its okay. I figured that would be easier to track the saying 24 hours.

LostDutchman

I was pretty shure it was a two cent, but the whole date thing is hard! And I was close.

Nice contest. I like it.
Mark Stilson
What do ya'll think would the 1863 make the magic P01 grade? Might be a P02 what needs to be in someones pocket for awhile.

BigM I'll see if they let me take a couple pictures and it could really get you going. They have a pile of junk about about 4 foot high, 5 to 6 foot wide and 3 foot deep on the floor behind the counter I asked them about. Its "junk" foreign and U.S. stuff.

lol. I had grad school applications due this week and a pile of other schoolwork. I waste my time on CP whenever I can, but I really couldn't justify the time it'd take to try your contest like a surgeon.

Congrats Dan!

I'd say P02 for the seated lib as the low grade.
dan8402
Thanks all, I was getting worried there that I might be way off track. I was just going through all of the possibilities and hoping for the best.
Mark Stilson
I asked if it would be alright to take a picture of the cull coins and they said no problem. It is fun piling thru all these.

BTW I'll may start "Cull Call Out II" Monday. Same rules just different coins. They had a draped bust cent there only problem no date. sorry.gif

Mark what it the adress to that shop? I'll mail myself! (Or just get someone to drive me).

Kind of wish they had an on line store or did more ebay.

Main thing with them is the amounts of coins. If you do by chance get to go there, make sure you watch out where you park! The whole area is parking deficient. I had nosed up on a No Parking zone. (Kind of half legal and half illegal.) And came back to a ticket.
