Patina of this rouble troubles me - http://cgi.ebay.com/Russian-silver-rouble-...60194512713QQih. What do you think, genuine or fake?

Patina is rarely a guide to anything except that inventive people sometimes add patina to
make a coin easier to sell.. The only thing that I see is that the piece is exceptionally well
struck, all details coming up sharply which is certainly very rare for a rouble of this period.
One would think that a piece of this very high quality would bring a better price at a quality
auction rather than on eBay.

These dies are not in my data base of fakes.

Which in turn raises the question of why the seller chose to sell it in this way.

I see nothing that looks obviously false, so the coin might be genuine. The account does not appear to be hijacked.

If it is a fake, it is well made.
