I seen a couple of coins a person dug up using a metel detector. They are a 1934 Walking liberty and a 1907 dime and to come out of the ground they are in great shape.

Too early? Nevvah.

I already got, a few days ago, the 2008 coins that I ordered from the Royal Mint (UK): The annual set including the £2 commem, and the Elizabeth I silver piece. See
http://www.coinpeople.com/index.php?showtopic=17278Also, Cyprus and Malta now use the euro, and of course the "2008" coins that became legal tender yesterday were made in '07. But they have been available (starter kits) since mid-December, and a fellow collector allowed me to hold a Malta euro coin in my hands for a brief moment last year. Does that count too?

I have my "last of old" set ordered from the Royal Mint, no idea when they will arrive. Ordered before I realised there was a whole 2008 set on offer (with £2 coins) but oh well.
Really wanted to get a starter pack of Cyprus and Malta euro coins, we know people in Cyprus but I don't know if they would be willing to hold onto a set for us, also like to get a set of the old ones before they are finally removed from circulation. Anywhere UK based I can get the starter packs?
Interesting fact I recently heard about Cyprus changeover, since the UK still has a few bases over there. It now means that the Euro circulates and is fully accepted on UK sovereign territory! (if only, a small area

That is right - and EUObserver.com, though usually somewhat euroskeptical, could just not resist the temptation, it seems:
Britain also introducing the euro(a headline roughly in the middle of this
http://euobserver.com/9/25384 article)
As for the UK "Charles" £5 coin, well, that one I do not find that attractive. A royal portrait, so to say, on either side, hmm. But the Elizabeth I coin looks neat.

Yes it's an alright coin I got it more to see what coins with Charles (William V) could look like with his portrait on.
I'll be purchashing the Elizabeth I one next month

"The Oklahoma state quarters will enter circulation on Jan. 28, 2008. On that same date, consumers and coin collectors can purchase Oklahoma Quarter Bags and Rolls from the US Mint."
From:
http://www.coinnews.net/2008/01/10/oklahom...-gate-yet-3936/It of course will obviously take some time before you see that coin. I don't believe it's like the presidential series in which they are already at the bank on the release date.

Picked up 2 rolls of the 2008 Monroe dollars this afternoon from my bank! One roll will basically be used for trading, with a few left over, and the other for spending.

So one else has gotten any 2008 coins yet???

How about the new bullion coin from the Austrian Mint, the 1 oz Silver Philharmoniker? It's a spitting image of the gold coin by the same name. The 2008 Kookaburra is nice. Lastly, the Perth Mint is starting a new Lunar series starting with the 2008 Year of the Mouse. There a some nice 2008 coins out there. I've still got several to go.
Pictures by me.

About a month ago I picked some of the new DE 2008 €2 commems (Hamburg) up at the Bundesbank - those were "technically" my first '08 euros. And yesterday I got one of those as change at a gas station in Neuss - "practically" the first one.

So have any banks gotten rolls of anything besides the PD's? Mine are always behind the times so I haven't exactly checked recently.

Malta euro set 2008 in special folder Numismata Munich 2008 (it was available only 1 set per entrance ticket at a price of 5 euro). Past years they gave a small set of San Marino 1, 2 and 5 eurocents in the ticket price.
