Hopefully you will be able to see the 1952d view which has a die break on the top edge of the wing about half way to the tip.
The 54p is more obvious and goes down to nearly the tip of the feather and breaks to the left across the feathers next to it.

Do you think it is possible these two coins were struck with the same die?

The mint has been known to reuse a die, but that would mean that would mean that their would have to be a 53p or d. The fact that they are different mints and different years makes it unlikely.

Oh well. But wouldn't it be fun to find them making one big error?

By the way, why do we have d over s and etc., in error coins.?

Because once one mint is done strikeing coins they ship them to a different mint, they change the mint mark ( they do a bad job) and start strikeing.
