OK, I know some of you must have gotten some coins for Christmas. I got an '07 ASE and an '08 Redbook! Oh yeah, my 8/yo daughter got me an 1892 Indian cent in about VF! Needless to say I'm pretty happy today!

I finally opened my CP Christmas exchange gift. Clive sent me a really great group of English coins from the last 800 years and a musket ball to boot!

Thanks Clive. santawink.gif

Two mint sets, a 1972 and a 1974 I think. My dad gave them to me from the collection his grandfather kept.
slowly but surely
I got a great looking 2 cent piece and a 3 cent silver so far! The type set is coming along nicely. We held off on most of our gifts until tomorrow though, since some of the family couldn't make it to town on christmas day. So here's hoping for more!

WOW! Congratulations on your purchase.
That is amazing. Are you sure you really needed all of these?
If you decide you don't then let me know and I will be happy to take them off your hands... grin.gif

I haven't gotten a coin as a gift persay since I was a kid. Everybody in the know that I collect, do NOT get me coins because I am picky. I have given coins like ancients as gifts occasionally though if someone might be really interested in it.

I don't dare let my family roam the hammered coin market... Plus not many family members would willingly spend $3-400 on a Anglo-Saxon coin for me... lol

I often get mint sets and the odd Plantagenet but always get coins from people's travels, which I often donate to charities.

I VERY seldom get actual coins as gifts. (Though this year was an exception as a friend who was vacationing in Thailand brought back some nice new circulation pieces for me.)

I normally get coin related items: 2x2s, pages, books, etc. This year I only got one coin related gift but it was a very handy one: a mini tripod! Now I don't have to set up books as a platform and take tons of pics hoping that one will have been when my hands are holding steady. tongue.gif

You need to use a remote shutter control if your camera is not made for a remote shutter control. Then you should use the delay shutter switch the one so you can push the shutter and a few seconds later it trips. This will take care of all camera shake, and it will work great with your new tripod.

I did not receive any coins under the tree this year. But I did receive money so I can go and purchase coins. I am looking at completing my Kennedy set with the money.
