I was asked by a distingushed member of the group about my 1785 2 ruble piece. This issue was the date did not appear to be a 1785/6 overdate/recut date. So I have included a microscope scan of the "5" and it is actually a "6" but weak.

for those playing at home the original scan is at :

If there are any other comments...

Comparison of "6"

Here are scans of 1785 and 1786 (actually 1786/5). The "6" on my 1786 also is a bit weak.

The "6" on your coin appears to be of different height from the rest of the "6" in the area that closes the loop of the "5" (about 7 o'clock to 10 o'clock in the loop). Is it really a different height from the surface, or is that just an illusion created by the lighting?
