I ran across this coin today, and the asking price made me wonder...what should I be looking at in these large cents?
Granted, this photo isn't the best, but is there a way to determine reworked surfaces/finishes?

Since I'm a total newbie, I've ordered the book "Penny Whimsy" so I can educate myself.

IMHO AG-03 net, but with F details. It is the pitted and porous surface that determines this one.

Thanks...that helps me understand why I didn't have a good sense of overall condition.
I began to wonder if the hair was reworked to bump up the grade. Over time, I'm sure I'll get a feel for this.
