my wife's grandfather brought this coin, along with a handful of others home with him from France at the end of WWI. it's the only coin in my collection that I haven't identified and would appreciate any help with it. this handful of coins was the start of my collection that includes many contries and a wide rage of dates. thanks.

Looks misterious! Try to ask what script does it contain first!
There are some letters, that looks arabic, but some looks quite strange! May be Hindu?

Fascinating coin....I would guess somewhere Hindi and Urdu are spoken...perhaps in what is now Pakistan prior to the Partition.

Yeah, I'd start with Pakistan, or any of the Indian Princely States that were Muslim populated.

Brett- FANTASTIC!
the only book that I have is Yeoman's modern world coins 1850-1965 and it wasn't in there.
none of the local people could identify it either. now I can lable it and put it where it belongs in my collection. many thanks again.
