Coins were more utilitarian back in those days, now these would get saved as curiousities.
very true... it always amazes me to see how much these coins got used even tho they were clearly different
A penny really did pack some purchasing punch back then though. I am just glad one of my grandfathers saved the 1867 2¢ he got from his older brother in 1897. I still have it.
i bought a nice braodstruck morgan dollar the other day in Vg condition...
the 1907 cent is on hold
