According to CoinWorld, the RCM has announced that it is changing the alloy/structure of the $1 Loon coins. The change is to take place shortly and allows the RCM to move planchett production inhouse vs from a vendor. They had to make the change because the current planchetts are all from a single source vendor who has a proprietary method of manufacture & content. The article stated that they were not decided if the change would be for 2007 as well as 2008 Loonies.
