Unfortunately I do not understand much Swedish, but apparently this would be the first time in > 1000 years that Swedish coins are produced outside the country. Then again, both the Swedish mint (AB Myntverket) and the Finnish mint are parts of the same company, the Mint of Finland group.

I see the mint of Finland getting like Royal Bank of Scotland and taking over everything. They did it with Nokia phones, and now they will make all the money. Must be that Finnish Sisu guy they all seem to talk about, they even knew Sisu up in the UP of Michigan when I went there.

The contract is for 3 years and can be extended with another 3 years.
The reason the swedish "Myntverket" lost the minting is they dont have any invironmental policy according to the article.
The companies that qualifyed were British Royal Mint, Spanish Real Casa de la Moneda & as well as the Fin Rahapaja OY
Rahapaja OY were the only ones who sent in a final offer for the minting of Swedish coins.

My personal feeling is after the first 3 years the minting will go back to Sweden again.
