Thought I would post this odd Lincoln cent and see if anyone has any idea at all how this happened.

My thought is that another coin rested on the cent while it was still wet and impressed lettering on it like carbon/water marks stay on coins. This definitely is 'impressed' on the coin and cannot be wiped off with a clean swab.
So far I haven't been able to come up with what actually made the mark, and it sure doesn't look like any writing I have seen on Lincoln cents to date.

Comments please.

Thanks

Of all the ones on this forum I thought you would know...
oh well, maybe someone else has some ideas about from whence it came.

By the way... I think you have a mine on a mountain in Southern Oregon where I use to roam as a kid.. at least it has your 'name'. grin.gif
