That "Englishman" bears a stunning resemblance to Woodrow Wilson. Neat medal with great caricature.

You are probably correct there Scottishmoney...and it makes more sense as it appears Uncle Sam is steering the boat around to pick him up. Good eye!!
I'll have to remember that previous researchers, such as Kienast and Frankenhuis, are not always correct in their interpretations of Goetz medals.

It really is a classic example of Goetz creating imagery with double entendre, he was a master at such creation. I really enjoy the catalog of his works, and am thankful that with addition of the 1908 25pf pattern to own one of his works.

As always outstanding and great subject, though I do not see the woodrow wilson resemblance...not saying it isnt there, its just I dont see it.
