Full Version: Strange scale

I just returned from a trip to Alaska - oh, the rugged beauty of the untamed wilderness, the bears, the fall colors, the mountains, the whales, the glaciers... and the rain!

But I found in Juneau a most unlikely thing: A scale that was from the Philly Mint. towards the bottom was a dated plate that had it from 1891, while a separate date plate on the plaque may be an indication of the date it was rebuilt. The clerks knew it was from the mint and used to weigh metals for coins, but little else.
