I am unsure as to which battle is depicted on the reverse of the note, from looking at it, I would deffinatly say it was from the Penisular campaign and not the later ruckus at Waterloo LOL any Info appreciated biggrin.gif

Well I finaly decided to contact the Bank of England to ask them if they knew the answer LOL and sure enough in less than 24 hours along came a great respons bthumbsup.gif

Harry Eccleston OBE designed the Wellington £5
On the reverse of the £5 note in question there is a portrait of the Duke of Wellington based on a painting of the Iron Duke by Sir Thomas Lawrence together with a Peninsular War scene, (the battle of Fuentes de Onoro in 1811)

Which cleared up a bit of a mystery for me LOL so a Big Thank You goes out to the BoE

Also as a side note Wellington never listed this battle as one of his victories shok.gif According to him If Napoleon had been there then He (Wellington) would have lost the battle. Apparently one of his Generals managed to let a rather large besiged French garrison escape after the battle was over wub.gif
