Now Mrs Orc would love that one grin.gif she has a few cut but I dont think she has a whole John.
YeOldeCollector
Is your surname Orc?

This is my only John that isn't a half, whole Johns and Richards I are quite scarce luckily I got the opportunity to buy this cheaply from a good friend.
De Orc
LOL nope it isnt hysterical.gif

A beauty! I'm jealous. Class 5b? The only examples I've encountered have been beyond my means, so I have to do with
De Orc
I would be happy with that yes.gif it's not in too bad a condition bthumbsup.gif
geordie
I suppose! Considering it was probably in use for a long time!
Clive. I have numerous halves and quarters that give me as much pleasure - at least you know they have been used, and conjecture as to what purpose could give you nightmares!!!
YeOldeCollector
It is indeed 5b, not a bad example yourself!
Halves are a great method of collecting, got my William I Cut half today!! wink.gif

Henry II is as far back (in Norman terms) that I go. I concentrate on Plantagenet - although different numismatic authorities list different kings in this category huh.gif
i.e splitting Henry II toJohn as Angevin. Henry III to Richard II as Plantagenet ( although Richard III claimed to be a Plantagenet) doh.gif
YeOldeCollector
I know what you mean, it gets very confusing!!
Personally I go with William I - Matilda = Normans
Henry II - Richard II = Plantagenet

So on and so forth hehehe

I tend to focus on Early Anglo-Saxon coinage to Richard II. It covers a load of monarchs but it keeps me busy! biggrin.gif

Recently got an Offa and Harold I. Plus the odd styca.

I have a few Celtic, Roman and Saxon (you know what we numismatists are like - can't resist a nice coin!) But my Plantagenet are the bulk of my collection with Edward I hogging the bulk of the coin cabinet! laugh.gif
Oh! yes! there are a few hundred Commem modern and foreign! Just can't stop!
YeOldeCollector
Coin collecting is not a hobby but an addiction! laugh.gif

My bulk is Henry III Longcross, like your Edward mint run I am going for a mint run of Henry L-Xs!
geordie
If you're after the different moneyers too, that's a lot of coins!!! ohmy.gif
YeOldeCollector
That would take me centuries and empty all possible bank accounts of mine lol

I'm just going for every mint, even quarters and halves. Hopefully, over time, I can improve all of them to EF wholes.

Over half-way there! bthumbsup.gif
