I have a coin that is labled procesed. It is a 1943-p steel cent.I got it for dirt cheap and it looks unc.It has no marks that look like cleaning marks under a 10x loupe.Sorry if this is a double post.

Is it in a slab and is there a company name? Such as PCGS, NGS, ANAC, etc? What does the label say?

Is it processed or re-processed? Littleton coins is notorious for selling the reprocessed steel cents with a fresh zinc coating so they are worthless, but I will say they make nice stocking stuffers for kids since they are so affordable.

It is in a 2x2.I got it at a local coin show. It was not litletonI go through bins that have cheap coins, looking for unc coins, and other things that have value. This was one of those coins.I payed a whole 10 cents for it.As you can see I wasn't looking that close at the other lables on the coin.It says procesed, not re-procesed.

Difficult to determine what was ment by that without either a decent photo of seeing it for real. someone may have just thought it was coated if it is in great condition. Not all dealers are rocket scientist.

Sounds like it is zinc coated or cleaned in some way. Steel cents are notorious for rusting, oxidizing and appearing ugly, and it is popular to alter their appearance.

I think it is plated.Looks unc.The giveaway is that a dealer who is selling morgans with a grey sheet at one end of the table won't sell a unc steel cent for 10 cents.

processed and reprocessed mean the same thing... if it shiny and looks like a trombone... its plated.. the true uncs are ugly...kinda look like a chain link fence..

The zinc plated coins I've seen usually have a silver with a slight blueish tint color to them. (Is blueish a word?)
They look real obvious when you place them next to silver or nickel coins.

Yes. Copy the link from photo bucket, and paste it into your post using the add a link button. It's the one with the world on it.
