Can anyone tell me about a token that appears to be scrip from the British East India Company, and is dated 1808. Any estimates of value are appreciated (condition is fair).

Do you have any photos/scans?
All the best,

Is it:
X Cash

or
XX Cash

??
These were recovered from the wreck of the Admiral Gardner. Fairly common and should be in UNC, especially the X cash.

Sorry not to attach a scan; I don't appear to have permission to do so. But your X Cash example is exactly correct.

XF is supposedly worth $45 in Krause, dropping off to $6 for VF. If you spend much more than $5 plus shipping you should probably keep looking. These were salvaged from barrels sealed in wax, hence they never had an opportunity to circulate at all. I think Krause is way over-priced.
