I'm coming to the end of my studies in Paris. I thought I'd share some of my numismatic journey with all of you. I'll start with some medals I've picked up here and there from different monuments. They're all self explanatory.

There are some more on my omnicoin as well.

I also took a short trip to Sweden. They use the Swedish Kroner, which has a nice conversion rate to the dollar. It was much more fun to buy things there than here in France.

And a 10 Kroner coin. It was surprisingly think, but only a bit bigger than a nickel.

Yeah, my hand is in better focus than the coin. I'll re-image it when I get home. For an on the fly Taxi picture, it's not too bad.

This really doesn't have much to do with anything, but it's harder to do in the US.

This would have taken both my hands using US change (assuming I didn't use pres. dollars, because I keep those.)

And finally....Rue Vivienne

Located near La Bourse,

Rue Vivienne is known as one of the golden streets of Paris. And boy was it golden... I counted over 15 coin stores in one block!

Thanks for looking. I'll add more later. I have a new start to a Euro collection!!

Some time ago I wanted to collect them "all". (Have been to France a lot.) Not a good idea though considering this pretty long list. smile.gif http://www.monnaiedeparis.fr/collectionneurs/jeton.htm

As for the 10 kronor coin, well, Sweden did pretty much the same as the UK: They introduced a new denomination some time ago, higher value than the 5 kr (UK: 50 p) coin, but instead of making it even bigger than that, it was made smaller but thicker. Sounds like a good idea to me.

PS - Nice pictures. Hope you're not broke after that visit to rue Vivienne, hehe.

Yeah, especially CGB, Monsieur Prieur likes to show you everything and lighten the burden of your wallet! I have never bought so much stuff in paper money as during my two visits there.
