I got this in today and was surprised by what appears to be an undercoin on the obverse. Is it just me? I haven't read of Aachen overstriking these crude coins. It might just be a mint error, the first strike badly done so they tossed it back in and struck again? Anyways I thought some others might be interested. smile.gif

I don't see anything on the reverse that would suggest it is, but that said, on the obverse under the eagle there are clues all over the place that in fact it is.

It looks like the obverse was some sort of brokage and then struck over to fix the problem.

On the eagle's tail you can see the inverted XII from reverse and it looks like some letters also are visible (inverted R from REICHS are between 1 and 7). It is a clash die in my oppinion.
