Hi all - I am not an experienced numismatist so I wonder if anyone can identify this weird coin: I once had a Lincoln penny that seemed to have a normal reverse showing the Lincoln Memorial. The obverse was slightly concave, and showed a ghostly Lincoln memorial (no portrait of lincoln, no date, no mint mark, no words). Is this a well-known condition, or something else? I will post a pic if I can locate the coin this weekend.

EDIT: After reading a few more posts, I think I can categorize it as a broadstrike, although it seems to be perfectly round; not oblong, and definitely no words or numbers are visible.

this would be a brockage.... at least thats what it sounds like.... might have been struck through a capped die.

i think double strike thus showing 2 memorials 1 on each side u can try taking a magnifier an scanning the coin to see if u can locate details such as a date nose or something

Sounds like a Brockage to me. The faint image shoud be a mirror of the reverse. A good find, I'd love to see a pic.
