The problem with these is that they state a denomination and people have attempted to force businesses to accept them as though they would accept regular US $.

It would be easier to argue in their favour if they did not put denominations on their coins, then devalue them ie making what was the $10 coin a $20 coin when silver went up in value. Notice that the $1000 coin has what, $650 worth of gold in it?

Whilst I am generally in favour of hard money, ie metal, these things are less than appreciable in my opin.

its kinda a scam...they put face value on the coin complicating it and defeating the purpose of using silver as currency (but it allows them to charge you to remit) and they value it on US dollars. They sell the tokens for well over spot value of the silver giving distributors a big discount thus allowing them to make money, thus the liberty dollar is sold retail well over the actual value of the silver so you loss USD in exchanging USD for them.

They make it seem like they are doing something admirable but they are just a business selling silver tokens...they can defend themselves smile.gif

The silver morgans & Peace dollars of lower grade are good purchases if silver bullion is the goal.. or atleast they can be bought at or below spot..
