The last "1" in the date looks like it has been altered -- quite crudely, too. sad.gif

Good catch, it looks like an original coin after all 1774 Rouble with altered "4". Not sure why would anyone alter the year, maybe they wanted it to look more rare smile.gif

Probably so ... Looks like a basement job in any case. Whoever did it must not know ANYTHING about coins, otherwise they would have left well enough alone! rofl1.gif

As I write this, the coin is bid up to $430.00 and there is still 1 day & 11 hours to go on this auction.

No doubt this "XF" (!!), altered date dog will be driven even higher with the usual sniping. sad.gif
