This series of small coins was introduced in 1892, when the Austro-Hungarian empire adopted a gold standard, which made it's currency (100 heller = 1 corona/krone) equal to the french franc. Coins depict Austrian imperial eagle with Habsburg shield. Coins were made of bronze and nearly pure nickel (10 and 20 hellers are magnetic), but during the First World War they were replaced with iron and copper-nickel-zink.
