Anyone else noticing the low prices on modern mint sets recently? I've picked up several lately for 1/2 to 2/3's redbook. Or is it just I have not been working on mint sets till recently and they have been low.

Research in the Redbook is often outdated by the time it makes press.

Current "market" can often be obtained from eBay, greysheet or auction houses.

Bottom line is are you happy with it at the price you paid?

Yep. Makes it easy on the pocket book. It has been a pleasant surprise since I'm going for a set like my proof sets. I just need to pick up one for less then face value.

I think that many of the Mint (& Proof) sets are great bargains right now. When I finish my Dansco modern albums, I think I'll go for a proof set & mint set run from 1946 to present.

I've never understood the low prices of mint sets and they have been weakening a little the last couple years. These sets contain most of the finest coins of the modern era but people pay them very little attention because very few collect modern coins. One of these days the supply coming available won't be as great as the demand and people are going to be in for a huge surprise. They're going to discover that there is no depth to the supply of most modern uncs and most of the mint sets have simply been destroyed.
