Thanks for sharing the information. I have seen this note quite a few time in ebay. Now I know more about this note. 
Somehow earlier explorers faces death at sea or at undiscovered places in the world.
In 1995, I went to South Africa. I was then standing beside a lighthouse at the tip of Africa. I could see on my left, the warm current of Indian Ocean and on my right the cold current of Altantic Ocean. I took a fisheye shot of it and it was really beautiful. Capetown was scenic and I enjoyed the weather very much.
