Representation of Latvija looking over a young farm family, this 100 Latu note from 1939 was the first note printed in Latvia in post independence, the others were printed in England and designed by Brits. Unfortunately this note only saw about a year and a half as in June of 1940 Latvia was occupied by the Russians, and annexed into the USSR. Latvian lats currency continued to circulate until November 1940, when it was exchanged at par for USSR rubles, which reflected a huge devaluation of the Lats currency.
