One side shows a soldier with the country name Republica Argentina above, and the text "La Nación a sus Heróes" (The Nation to its Heroes) below. http://69.94.33.133/nadia/285/1a.jpg

The other side http://69.94.33.133/nadia/285/1.jpg has the text "Malvinas Argentinas" and the date 2 de Abril 1982 (above), and the face value and year (below). In the center you see a map of the islands - pretty much the same as the map http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Falkland_£2.JPG on the British Falkland £2 coin ...

The Argentines are issuing a commemorative coin for a war they lost!

They probably are calling a victory ala "moral victory". Somehow I don't think 650 Argentines and 249 Brits lying in graves in the Falklands are any sort of a victory.

Perhaps a better commemoration would be the fact that Argentina is now something resembling democracy which it was not then, being ruled then by a military junta.

Well possession is 9/10ths of the law, so maybe they might want to change the design to "British Falklands" ok.gif

Well, the piece is not about having won or lost; it is supposed to thank or honor their soldiers who fought in that war. But I think the actual message is something like "those islands are ours" ...
