I have scoured North and Spinks for a classification of this example of the Tealby silver pennies. The portrait seems to be a threequarter view and the ear shape seems different to those in the books. Does anyone have any ideas on type? unsure.gif

Don't know anything about these but that's a neat coin to have in your collection.

Considering they are extremely thin, you wonder how on earth they used them in normal commerce! ohmy.gif

I have two Tealbies too, I find it impossible to identify classes on these! confused1.gif Would be grateful if someone could lend a hand/eye.

All the best,
Clive.

Seems there are few Hammered English specialists around. I've tried a couple of forums without success but I'll let you know if I ever get a reliable source! biggrin.gif

I am friends with Martin Allen and Mark Blackburn at the Fitzwilliam. Perhaps they might help?!?!
Will get back to you if they can help.

Good news. My friends have put me in touch with, 'apparently', the leading Tealby expert in England. I will email him my Cross and Crosslets. If you want any of yours sent then please PM me and I will give you my email address for the scans.

All the best,
Clive.
